I attended the funeral of the sister of one of my very close friends some years ago and what the pastor said that day about the deceased woman has stayed with me for a very long time.
He had observed her secretly in church and seen the dedication and devotion with which she attached to working in the church, even when she was terminally diagnosed with the disease and was so weak in the body. She never made excuses, she ALWAYS showed up, even when the strong youth didn’t.
She was committed till death and didn’t bother that nobody saw her even at the very last moments.
In my opinion one of the gravest problems facing the church, is it being filled with too many of us men pleasers. We will do, so far as somebody is watching. That is how far we go.
People give big when the crowd is thick, others pray or worship even better when certain people are around, etc.
I pray God delivers you and I from this serious ‘sickness’ so the quality of our service to Him may improve.
