Ephesians 1:1 KJV
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
In 2004, when I was I still a student at KNUST, I started studying the book of book of Ephesians verse by verse using a devotional guide authored by one Selwyn Hughes and I still remember what he said about this very first verse.
Mr. Hughes explained the Ephesus was a Port city, like Tema or Takoradi, and was plagued with all kinds of vices and practices. Due to its the concentration of foreigners, paganism was at its peak. Everybody copied what the wanted to.
Ephesus was the last place to find ‘very good people,’ yet Paul the apostle addressed this letter of his to the ‘SAINTS’ at Ephesus. Meaning amidst all the filth, a few people found occasion not to stain themselves.
Sometimes you are unable to determine where you find yourself, but you definitely are responsible for how you live there. Would you join the band wagon or be that shining unique example in the midst of the filth?
Have a blessed Friday.
