2 Corinthians 13:5-6 KJV
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be counterfeits?
[6] But I trust that ye shall know that we are not counterfeits.
The WordNet Dictionary 1.7 defines counterfeit as “not genuine; imitating something superior.” The word is more associated with money, ornaments, paintings, etc, but not often with faith.
An original exhibits special characteristics a counterfeit product may not have. These unique features are usually what experts use to distinguish the two in most cases.
In this case however, Paul the apostle is urging us to be our own experts and examine ourselves to know whether we are counterfeits or genuine.
You know yourself better than anyone else does. The precepts of the Lord are available to guide your walk with Him.
Strive to exhibit the unique qualities that classify you as genuine, so that when our heavenly Father, the chief experts, tests your quality by fire, you may pass.
Have a blessed Friday.
