For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

I had a friend in the school choir who told me much about the wrongs in that choir and wanted me to have a word with them.

A good number of the choristers were quick to dismiss the abilities of their colleagues when asked of them. Some were so envious of others they’d go the extent of using harm to get another to lose his/her place in an upcoming performance.

These things happen when we lose the whole meaning of ministry work and begin to make UNNECESSARY comparisons with others. Too many ministries are dying because ministers compare themselves to others, to the extent that some go lengths to “better themselves.”

Paul the apostle made this observation with his own people of Corinth and set the records straight: Jesus Christ is our ONLY standard, end of story!

Before you take any decision on your own ministry, probably because you’ve seen what someone else is doing, please take time and pray about it first. You may be going in for more than you can chew.
