Luke 10:20 KJV
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
It is very easy to miss an overall objective when the goodies along the way gets into our heads.
I’m not a healing and deliverance minister, but I want to believe such ministers feel good when they facilitate a successful session.
Exorcists, deliverance ministers, prophets, etc are usually revered across cultures, because their job is not an easy one. Such reverence naturally makes them feel good, and indeed they deserve the right to feel so. No wonder the 72 came back to Jesus rejoicing.
But Jesus, as if not moved by their deeds, in sharp contrast, presents something that is more worthy: “Get your names in the Book of Life.”
No, Jesus was not envious of their deeds, He actually gave them the power to.
To Jesus, the overall objective was far more important than the niceties of the present. The end-product far more exceeds the by-product.
Take heed that your present glories don’t make you lose focus.
Have a blessed day.
