Luke 6:7-8 KJV
And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.
[8] But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
By His actions, if Jesus was a young Ghanaian boy in my days, we would have called him a ‘hard core.’
Seemingly defiant, not just of the status quo, but also of the elders.
But in truth, Jesus only defied their envious intentions. This account reminds me of the story of Daniel the prophet when an accusation was brought against him concerning his mode of worship.
Jesus set the records straight. Traditions, rules, laws, dogma, etc, exist to bring order to life and make it more beautiful… but they are themselves NOT more important than life!
Jesus on the other hand is pro-life and His actions are based purely on love for man’s life.
He calls us today to emulate this. Let’s make the lives of others more beautiful by going out of our way, if it means challenging the status quo, to do them good. That is the way of the Master.
Have a blessed Friday.
