Mark 15:10-11 KJV
For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
[11] But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
If the platform was given for people to speak of their experiences they had suffered as a result of envy, I’m sure we are going to hear a lot of stories that will shock us to the bone.
The hatred or envy or both that the Pharisees and chief priests felt for Jesus was so real that it became tangible at a point. Why would they even prefer the release of the most notorious criminal of their time, just to clear Jesus out of their way?
Their intention was so clear: eliminate the guy by any means necessary, at any price. I want to believe that a week after all this happened, they’d sit and asked themselves whether they actually consented to the release of Barabbas.
Envy makes us lose our ability to think straight and make reasonable judgements. Families, corporate firms, fellowships, etc, have been destroyed just because one guy sowed the seed of envy.
Be steady, identify envy by its fruits when it shows up.
Have a blessed Friday.
