THE POOR, EVER PRESENT – Thu, Sep 15, 2016

*Mark 14:7 KJV*

_For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always._

Jesus justified the pouring of expensive ointment on His feet when the woman who did same was heavily criticised by some onlookers. He made two points:

1. Preparation for His burial

2. The never-ending incidence of the poor and needy in society

Indeed, the poor and needy will forever be with us. No single man can cure the world of this phenomenon. No politician, nor philanthropist, out of genuine altruism, can actually achieve a case of zero-incidence.

Yet in Jesus’ statement lies a gentle appeal to all of us to remember the needy in as much as we can. I dare challenge you to make this a daily habit, purposely look out to help a needy one each day.

It may not be in monetary terms only. You may listen, encourage or pray for such ones as pertains to their needs, and it shouldn’t be difficult identifying such. Free your minds of those you feel are in to take advantage of you and just do what you have to. Your Father in heaven appreciates this.
Have a blessed day.
