Matthew 11:29-30 KJV
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
I must confess that I’ve been schooled a lot, going through the book of Matthew. I was fixated today on Jesus’s comments on John the Baptist, suggesting he is Elijah. But that is subject for discussion another day.
Jesus ends the chapter saying His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Now, this contradicts a lot of what we see as modern day Christianity. Our worship these days are plagued with so many ‘dos and don’ts’
We spend more time fighting over which denomination’s dos and don’ts conform to God’s. One believer could boldly condemn another believer’s church and way of worship, forgetting that denominations never existed when they were first called Christians.
I don’t intend to open the gates for lawlessness, no, not at all. I seek to imply that indeed man has contributed to making worship burdensome since the days of Jesus. Yet His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
I pray you catch this vision and do your best to ply the ‘easy’ route.
Have a blessed day.
