Matthew 10:5-6 KJV
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
This portion of scripture is well read, yet only a few ask why Jesus restrained his disciples at this stage of his Ministry.
He was sending them out into nearby towns (just the 12 disciples) to prepare the grounds for He Himself, so why would He not want them to visit gentile and samaritan homes? This is what I call the principle of “small/humble beginnings.”
Indeed, Jesus would have loved the rest of the world to hear His message even at that time, but… the timing wasn’t right. Any such move would have been premature and may have proved detrimental to His ministry.
Start whatever you want to start with the few people around you first. Endure little opposition first, before you graduate to bigger ones. Make time to build character and develop resistance because you will need it. Start small, it is a wise doctrine.
Have a blessed day.
