Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord.

About a year ago in my country, a natural disaster dominated the headlines for more than a week in the capital, Accra. Lots of property and more than a hundred lives were lost in the floods.

As expected, all manner of reasons were attributed to this great loss, chief of which was behavorial, yet one year down the line not much has been done to avert yet another episode.

The prophet Joel called his people to action after a similar terrible natural disaster. But his response to the plague was rather a spiritual one. He saw the locust invasion as an act of God and so called for a deeper relationship with God through a spiritual awakening.

When hit with a crisis in our families, work places, etc, it is prudent for the Christian to ALSO consider spiritual interventions, amidst other options. Never rule out the reasons you cannot see or those that seem illogical, they may be the key to your solutions.
