Ezekiel 35:13-14 KJV
Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

[14] Thus saith the Lord God ; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

I can’t imagine what kind of fate these Edomites faced. I find this prophesy from Ezekiel rather troubling

When we were in the nursery class, we never liked it when the whole class chorused “SHAME” at us. It wasn’t a pleasant thing for everyone else to be happy just to make you sad

So even today, children never really like that treatment. Teachers have been further advised to even refrain from such punitive methods because of the effects studies have shown to have on children.

So why would the God of love make a people desolate when the rest of the world is rejoicing. Simple, Edom boasted a great deal. See v10 -12.
Boasting is a direct derivative of Pride, and Paul would later say if we have to boast, then it should be in the Lord.
