A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

People say that all emotions flow from the heart, and many believe that is why it is used in many expressions figuratively, to define the state in which men find themselves.

An aunt of mine used to call another little boy in the house I grew in, “stone heart.” This was simply because she felt the little boy’s wicked intentions were innate. She’d aways advise us not to play with him.

Though this was cruel, she wouldn’t stop calling him ‘stone heart’ till his family finally moved out of the premises.
God on the other hand described the hearts of the Jews as stony because they never truly repented. He feels the same about you today who keeps returning to your vomit.

But Pentecost, which is just around the corner, offers us the opportunity to replace these hearts of stone with one of flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit, as was prophesied by Ezekiel  (see v26).
