Ezekiel 23:38-39 KJV
Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.
[39] For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.
Jerusalem became the capital of Judah and Samaria remained the capital of Israel when the Kingdom of Israel divided into two, after the reign of King Solomon.
Even though God expected much from these two sister nations, whom He’d later call Oholah and Oholibah, we all know what they did.
One thing Ezekiel mentioned that struck me can be found in verse 39.
Recently, a joke went viral on WhatsApp about a first-timer in church who confessed she spent the night at her boyfriend’s.
God entertains sinners but NOT sin. We can’t sin and show up in church as if it never happened.
We profane the sanctuary, like Oholia and Oholibah did when we return to the church and put on our ‘holy robes.’ Our posture/diposition in such instances should purely be that of a repentant one, than otherwise.
You don’t go singing praises to God with all that guilty conscience. Make peace with Him first. Confess your sins and ask Him for another chance. Do not profane His sanctuary.
Have a blessed Friday.
