Ezekiel 15:5 KJV
Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?
When we were little boys we talked of a church in the neighbourhood called “Agbooo Dɔŋ” (literally meaning “No more death” or simply “No dying.”)
Young and foolish as we were we thought anybody who went to that church would escape death, so they could do whatever they wanted for a long time, then live for God later. That sounded pretty attractive to us, till the day we heard the head pastor at Agboo Dɔŋ had passed on.
Agboo Dɔŋ didn’t mean what we thought it meant afterall.
God expects us to make the most of the opportunities He brings our way while we are yet alive. Especially that of working out our own salvation. Ezekiel used an anology of the vine to explain this in this chapter.
Now Day is here, Night will surely come for each of us. Then our eyes will be dim and watch the light fade away. What account of ourselves will we give the Creator? May your transcript enable you avoid the fire.
Have a blessed day.
