Jeremiah 29:7 KJV
And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
I must say that this chapter is a very beautiful letter Jeremiah wrote to those who were carried into exile in Babylon. Full of hope and goodwill, it emphasizes the point that God truly never forgets His own.
For those of us who find ourselves in very hostile/unfamiliar territories because of one or two reasons beyond your control, God is re-assuring you He hasn’t abandoned you yet.
What is more important, He wants you to pray for the success and peace of your host(s). No matter how intolerable your host(s) is/are, you mustn’t curse them or seek their downfall, you’re rather required to pray for their peace, because in their peace, you may find yours!
These, like a number of other teachings, make Christianity what it is. Seek the peace and progress of others, and pull no one down deliberately. In so doing, you may be setting the path for your own success.
Have a blessed day.
