Jeremiah 28:16-17 KJV
Therefore thus saith the Lord ; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the Lord.
[17] So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
Why would a prophet lie to a people? Why would a prophet tell a people what God hasn’t said, and yet claim God has sent him to make such declarations?
So many reasons come rushing through our minds when we begin to ponder on questions like these.
Hananiah the prophet found himself in a difficult time when nothing good ever seem to happen. He went for the jugular
He made up his own prophesy, and I believe he added all the drama and seriousness that came with prophesying in those days, so that everybody believed, even the king did. But God took him out that same year!
Our generation has seen many more lying prophets than in Jeremiah’s time, in my opinion. Christians need to weary of who they allow to lay hands on them, who they receive counsel from and even who takes their tithes. Be wise, the days are evil.
Have a blessed day.
