Jeremiah 23:1, 18, 21 KJV
Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord.
For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord , and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it ?
I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
I believe this is about the most extensive chapter I’ve ever read rebuking shepherds. Jeremiah had some very strong words for the prophets, pastors, priests and shepherds of his time.
God must really really be pissed off with all the lies He heard from His own men of God; how much they spoke their own minds and attributed it to God. When you read all these 40verses, you may think God’s speaking to only pastors.
But whoever gets the attention of even one person when he speaks, also falls in this domain.
God is not pleased with those who scatter what He has gathered (see v1), so if you go about to setting rifts among believers, you are a false prophet too and He’ll deal with you.
Rumour mongers, gossips, tale bearers and all those whose efforts scatter the church are not from God. Even men of God who do same are a reproach to Him. Prophesy only what you truly hear, not what you feel.
Have a blessed day.
