SUPPRESSING BOASTFUL TENDENCIES – Tue, Dec 15, 2015

Isaiah 10:15 KJV
Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

Assyria, though a pagan nation, was more like the ones God used to put His people, the Israelites, in check when they were going too wayward. Isaiah metaphorically states that Assyria is “the rod of God’s anger.”

So God would unleash the Assyrian army on those who were becoming godless, to make them know He is God (v5 -6). And that is what it was supposed to be, not more. Assyria was not supposed to get besides themselves and feel pompous.

You may be in a particular position now for a particular reason. Mordecai told Esther the same thing. Her reason for being a queen may be to preserve the Jewish people.
Soon as you miss the purpose for which you are where/who you are, you send a negative feedback to God.

Assyria did same, and God raised a remnant of Israel to deal with them.
Don’t get beside yourself for the axe is not greater than its user. Give the honour to whom it is due.

Have a blessed day.
