Ecclesiastes 11:7-8 KJV
Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:
[8] But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.
What a time to read such verses! I could only think of “Dumsor” (Power outage) as I meditated on these two verses. Indeed, Light is sweet… And I detest the feeling that comes to me when I get home from work each day to see the lights out.
Usually, I’m able to figure this out at the junction that leads to my house. The darkness greets me right from there, and makes my mood change.
On the other hand when there’s light, I wear a big smile ☺, as if it was so much of a luxury.
Solomon, through these verses drew out an important fact. The days of darkness are definitely going to come for each one of us, when the light of our eyes will be shut out completely (more like a perpetual “Dum”). This is important to REMEMBER.
So if you rejoiced and made merry during your “sor” (light) and forgot to prepare for the “dum,” (darkness) you may have yourself to blame for the repercussions. Remember the days of darkness will be very many (verse 8b). Eternity is way lengthier than 75years on earth 🌍 so live wisely.
Have a blessed day.
