DEAD LION SYNDROME – Tue, Nov 24, 2015

Ecclesiastes 9:4 KJVdead_lion
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

I think the first time I heard this verse was actually in a Nigerian Movie I watched. I had thought it was one of the numerous Nigerian proverbs we hear all the time until I chanced upon it in the bible while a student at Presec, Legon.

Anything associated with the living is always live and bubbling while that associated with the dead is cold and pale. There’s really no excitement about what is dead, no matter what is was worth while alive.

Some of us may command a lot of fear and respect and be seen as giants within certain circles, but are only ‘dead lions.’ Your roar never goes beyond your mouth because there’s no life in you. You are dead if you fail to keep the relationship with your Maker alive.

Consistency is key in keeping alive in the Lord. You can not afford to keep the fire out because it would cost you more to do so. You’re better off living as a dog following your master, than a lion… a dead one for that matter.

Have a blessed day.
