Proverbs 25:14 KJV
Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
I attended a church harvest one day at a church in Ashongman Estates in Accra one day, and the leader of the harvest, as usual, convinced church member to give to the worthy cause. They were putting up a new church building.
Much to my surprise, he announced that he wasn’t going to entertain pledges! He argued that he found it a bit embarrassing to chase church members for monies they had pledged on their own. Those were not very good experiences in the past, for him.
The philosopher likened such people to pregnant clouds that promise a lot of rain. They are characterized by heavy winds that rip off loose roofing sheets and bend trees… yet… offer nothing in the end… NO RAIN!!!
Jesus wants to trust you and take you for your word. Make good your Word to the Lord and redeem those pledges.
It is a good thing to pledge, but a better thing to honour your pledge. Recount all those ones you’ve failed to honour and go do what is honourable.
Have a blessed day.
