Proverbs 26:20 KJV
Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
The last time I sat in a fire-prevention lecture for staff of my office, the fire service personnel hammered into our heads the fact that fire could not grow without fuel. All things fire could consume are fuel to fire.
They taught that wood was the most consumed fuel in most fire disasters. Good wood sustains fire for a good amount of time and so does a talebearer, according to the philosopher. Talebearers carry and distort information among friends, families and professionals.
So Solomon got it right if he compared them with wood in a fire. So long as we continue to entertain such people in our midst, the longer the ‘fire’ remains.
Churches, as well as beautiful relationships, have all crumpled down just because of talebearers. As we make the effort to avoid them, let us also strive not be talebearers ourselves.
Have a blessed day.
