GOD AND THE KING – Thu, Nov 05, 2015

Proverbs 21:1 KJVGod and the king
The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord , as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

I’m privileged to have seen different regimes of government in my country. Each of these two big political parties have received their fair share of insults while in power. The presidency has been the worst hit.

For me, what is even sad is when I find Christians taking centre stage in the feast of insults. Some go all out to vex their anger on social media and unfortunately get drowned in the sea of insults.

Since when did this become our way of life? 1 Peter 2:17 urges us to “honour the king.” Though we may not approve of our leaders, it is in our interest to pray for them. I believe this is why the philosopher had to remind us that the King’s heart is in the hand of the Lord.

Of course, some rulers have been so corrupt that praying for them doesn’t even feel right, but neither would insults help.
Our emotions shouldn’t get the better of us. We preach Christ, let’s live Christ too.

Have a blessed day.
