Proverbs 20:1 KJV
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

I had a friend in school who loved to drink. He told a lot of stories whenever he got himself drunk. He actually seemed happier and would sing songs that would make my roommates and I laugh really well.

One day while he was sober, I asked him, what the feeling was like, to be drunk. He told me, “I feel invincible, like I can do all things and never die!” Wow,  I still remember his words because no one had ever told me that.

Wine is good, no doubt about that. Science has proved its health benefits, but the same science has elaborated the long term effects of drunkenness. Being drunk is not godly! As Solomon would put it, whoever is deceived by strong drink is NOT wise.

Paul the apostle admonished the people of Ephesus to be filled not with excess wine 🍷 but with the Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18).
If you cannot drink in moderation then you are better off without it. Drink responsibly.
