Psalm 66:18 KJV
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me :

Too many of us Christians are well familiar with scriptures as such. We even might have been taught this in Sunday School, that God doesn’t answer the prayers of a sinful person.

I took time to look at a few similar verses this morning:
Prov 28:9… If one turns away his ear from hearing the law,  even his prayer is an abomination to the Lord.

Is 59:2… Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you.

Jn 9:31… We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshipper and does His Will, then God hears him.

We could go on and on but one thing stands out in all these: Your prayers amount to nothing if you are clouded in sin

It is important that before we put our requests before God each day, we cleanse ourselves with the blood of Christ to make us worthy candidates for His responses. The only prayer of a sinner He listens to is that of repentance.
Pray… but pray wisely.
