He wrote also letters to rail on the Lord God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
Jerusalem was under seige. The king of Assyria had even blocked the waterways and persistently abused the inhabitants verbally.
What was more, he defied God’s name and compared Him to the other gods made by human hands (v19). Sometimes we ask if God doesn’t see all the injustice going on in the world today. Far too many crimes get away unpunished or even unnoticed.
Consider yourself. Sometimes you go through very difficult situations and wonder if God is truly there. If He is, then why should He just allow people to speak ill of Him or allow all the rot to continue?
Simple answer…God does NOT rule the world we live in. Until you invite Him into the equation, like Hezekiah did, He would not intervene. Every situation needs an intercessor, needs YOU to make it better. Your role is key, so before you ask why, do your part.
Have a blessed day.
