2 Chronicles 31:1 KJV
Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.
A lot of us know that faith is best expressed in actions, and so we easily quote “faith without action is dead.”
But how about repentance?
When we confess our sins there definitely has to be a demonstration in the physical that we are truly repentant and not just mere words.
For instance, an adulterous spouse MUST go the extra mile of severing all ties with their cronies if they are truly repentant. Lip service is just not enough.
This is what Israel and all its tribes did in the days of Hezekiah and the LORD was pleased.
In this time of Lent, it is my prayer that we are not just repentant in word… but also in deed.
Have a blessed day.
