2 Chronicles 24:17-18 KJV
Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them.
And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.
Joash was such a good king during the days of Johoiada the priest, his advisor. He served the LORD and did His bidding, till the priest died, then the worst happened.
I remember in one of our evangelism campaigns way back in Kumasi, Adom Fie, I came across a man who talked a lot about his past and much fire he was on in his days. Somehow he could no longer keep that flame burning.
A lot more friends and older folks have behaved similarly when we I had raised a discussion on a topic like salvation or another. They often go like, “do you know when we became christians? You were not even born then”
Salvation will not have a retrospective effect when the end goes sour. God expects us to be faithful…even to the end. So your past cannot really save you as much as your present. In this race of ours, the end really matters!
Keep the flame alive.
Have a blessed day.
