1 Samuel 30:22 –
Then all the wicked and worthless fellows among the men who had gone with David said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not give them any of the spoil that we have recovered, except that each man may lead away his wife and children, and depart.”
I find it very difficult to understand, when people don’t want others to prosper. What at all could be wrong if both are prosperous?
David had some worthless fellows in his camp as well. On his way back to Ziklag where he was living, the Amalekites raided them and taken away so much spoil. On his pursuit of them, some of his men grew faint so had to wait at a point, but David continued, found the enemies and struck them
Bringing back the spoil, some ‘worthless fellows’ with David didn’t want those who waited behind to have any of the spoil. But David rebuked them extensively and even went out of his way to give to other neighbouring tribes.
A godly person is not only the man who prays and worships, but also the man who delights in the prosperity of his neighbour/friend.
You have a wicked spirit if you glory in seeing your buddies kowtow to you because you are better off than they.
Be like David, let others share in the spoil.
Have a blessed weekend.
