1 Samuel 29:11 KJV
So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
For fear of Saul, David had fled entirely from Israel. He was now living with one of the lords of the Philistines called Achish, in whose eyes God had granted him favour.
But now the Philistines were about to attack Israel and David’s allegiance was going to be put to the test. Would he join the ranks of the Philistines in battle against his own people, or he’d make an excuse to avoid killing his own.
God comes into the picture yet again, just like he’s always done for David, who loses favour in the sight of the other lords and is sent packing home. Whew!!! What a close shave.
These and many other scenarios established David in the eyes of many as one chosen and accepted by God.
You and I are even better off than these generals, in that we have the Holy Spirit who not only delivers us but also prompts us in such precarious waters.
God still delivers and you’ve got to try Him and give Him more room to operate in your life.
Have a blessed Friday.
