1 Samuel 28:15 KJV
And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

Saul needed to hear from God concerning the impending battle but God wasn’t responding thru any of the means He used to; neither by dreams nor by the prophets. Saul was distressed.

He remembered Samuel and decided to invoke Samuel’s spirit thru a medium/witch. He did and Samuel appeared.
So many questions flooded my thoughts as I read this passage yet again.

1. Samuel’s spirit arose out of the earth. (see v13). Why the earth?

2. He was covered with a mantle. (see v14) Was he still in his old mantle he died with?

3. He was invoked by a witch. To what extent was the power of this witch so that she could sermon a high prophet like Samuel?
