1 Samuel 26:8-9 KJV
Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.
[9] And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?
For the 2nd time Saul had come out into the wilderness to seek David’s life, and for the 2nd time he had failed. In fact, he had fallen into the hands of David yet again.
But David would not take any action against Saul. See David’s response to a very logical suggestion from Abishai, “…for who can stretch forth his hand against the anointed, and be guiltless?”
Success is also a function of how we treat God’s people, especially his anointed ones.
We are in no position to castigate, chew out or dress down men of God just because we heard something about them in the news. Such matters are best left to God to handle.
Neither is it prudent to take advantage of the opportunity to get back at them for what they did to you in the past. David left Saul to his own fate (see v10), he wouldn’t have a hand in it.
Be wise in dealing with the Lord’s anointed.
Have a blessed day.
