1 Samuel 21:9 KJV
And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it : for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
This is one of the chapters Jesus himself made reference to during his time. This was when David and his men ate the show-bread (present day large host), eaten only by priests.
Aside this David acquired the weapon of Goliath that same day. Reminded me of the movie, “Chronicle of the Riddick,” where one kept what one earned. In doing this he risked the lives of those who kept the weapon for the king.
All the events that unfolded in this chapter were not planned by David, though he did a lot of wrong, and as Jesus would explain centuries later, he did these out of a good intention… to stay alive!!
Saul would later kill all the priests here at Nob just because they fell to David’s lies, yet God did not hold it against David. Our intentions for doing things are far more important than the acts themselves.
What are the real motives behind what you do? God’s watching and he knows.
Have a blessed day
