Ruth 4:1 KJV Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
I admire the zeal of this man called Boaz in all he did. He even sat outside and waited patiently for the rightful heir to discuss whether or not he could take the woman. When he was in love he could not hold himself, he’d do anything to be with the woman he had come to love so much. Naomi knew this very well. See her closing remarks in 3:18… Naomi said “he will not rest, until he has finished the thing this day.” And this was true.
I can imagine how impatient Boaz felt when he had to wait till morning to begin the ‘take-over’ process. Love between a man and a woman is a good thing, and when this love is grown out of desires that are not inordinate and selfish, one ‘cannot sleep’ until they have properly, officially and legally committed to themselves.
I don’t hold a Ph.D in Love but I have come to know what it truly means to love someone and I have come to share in this feeling Boaz and Ruth had for each other. I know some of you too have. My prayer is for those who haven’t, may God grant you that earnest desire so you may know no “rest until you have finished the thing this day.” Ain’t no such thing as mutual love!! Have a blessed day.
