City (Heart) of Refuge – Thu, Aug 28, 2014

The-City-of-RefugeJoshua 20:9 KJV
These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.

The number of times ‘Cities of Refuge’ has been mentioned just between Leviticus and Deuteronomy either shows how important these cities were or how much God detested ‘instant justice.’

These cities were called ‘Refuge Cities’ because people who had accidentally murdered anyone could seek asylum in those places to avoid mob justice. Why was God so interested in this?

Everybody needs a fair trail before he/she is declared guilty.
Take a look at how many people have died mistakenly just because one person thought wrongly…just because one person did not give them a chance to tell their story…just because somebody cried wolf.
Same way, it is a very cruel thing to jump into conclusions about somebody just because you made a few observations.

It is not godly to call a spade a spade when you’ve never seen it shove sand but saw only traces of sand on it.
True Christians even go a step further by even giving people the benefit of the doubt when they have actually erred.
Let’s build cities of refuge in our own hearts.
Have a blessed day.
