OF WOLVES AND WAYWARDNESS

Acts 20:29-30 KJV
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

[30] Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

My mum has an old black and white picture of myself, my cousin and my grandpa, sitting right in front of his house. We were just a year old. According to my mum, grandpa biggest fear was that we could never really come to know him or who he was.

Grandpa knew he would be long gone before we were of age. Somehow, he hoped his ideals would linger on in us, so we’d turn out well and good. Today, my cousin is no more but I believe grandpa won’t be too disappointed with what he’s seeing. We are not saints but definitely holding on to the faith.

Paul the Apostle felt a similar fear when he was leaving Ephesus. He had been with them for quite a while and just before his emotional departure, he revealed what fear he had… waywardness… instigated by both external and internal factors/persons.

It’s common place for Christ to come back to find us wayward, probably because we have allowed in the “wolves” to indoctrinate us and not lived a life led by the Holy Spirit and not guided by fellowship.
The wolves abound in our time, let’s be guided.

Have a blessed day. #CarllyDevotionals
