CHRISTIAN LIBERTIES – Thu, Jul 09, 2020

1 Corinthians 9:3-5 KJV

Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

[4] Have we not power to eat and to drink?

[5] Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

I know a number of believers who have lost out on a number of opportunities, simply because they were overly concerned about the perception of people around them. They thought people kept a keen watch on them and were ready to criticize every move of theirs.

Indeed, it is a good thing for people’s perception of you to be good, but it shouldn’t force you to break your own back all the time. My post yesterday, for instance, could be one typical example. What liberties/rights does a believer have?

Paul the Apostle sought to break this question down in his 1st letter to the Corinthians: Did his being an Apostle prevent him from eating or drinking what he loved? Was courting a lady out of his league? Was he exempted from taking it easy and enjoying the goodies of life? Who rears cattle and does not benefit of their milk?

Believers, like all men, are not meant to have restricted access to all the good of the land. But must ensure that having done all, they “do not get disqualified” (1 Cor 9:27).
The Christian Walk is not a burdensome one. You have liberties too, but exercise them in moderation, to please your Maker.

Have a blessed day.
