ECUMENISM – Wed, May 13, 2020

John 17:21-22 KJV

That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

[22] And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

Google defines Ecumenism as the principle or aim of promoting unity among the World’s Christian churches.

Many years ago, I remember being turned away by a family simply because I didn’t belong to their Denomination. I found that a bit hard to take, as the father of the lady is a Minister of God. Those days forced me to think about christian denominations in a different way, and since then I’ve been a serious advocate of Ecumenism.

Jesus couldn’t have over-stressed the point in these very famous words: That all may be one. In a world where one Christian looks down on another Christian just because he/she is of another group, how could we possibly be one?

Of course, we may have issues with the doctrines of other denomination and may just not be comfortable with them, but how do we fare in all these differences in the sight of our LORD? Does He too feel the way we do? Does God approve our differences? The differences that tear us apart than make us one?
His prayer is for all of us to be one. I believe He still holds this dear to His heart. Do your part to fulfill this mandate of His.

Have a blessed day.
