Luke 16:8 KJV
And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
I was actually torn between two verses this morning, i.e. v8 and v31, but feel led to share my reflections on v8 today. Perhaps you could share your thoughts on v31 with me later.
Why would Jesus commend a steward who did something that bad? Why would Jesus say the children of the world are wiser than the children of light. One key reason for this, in my opinion, is because the children of the world take care of themselves and love to support each other. I have witnessed this many many times.
Sometimes, when people are exposed for a crime, you wonder how and when they all got like-minded to execute their deeds, and how they went on unnoticed for long. That’s the evidence of powerful support system they create.

Jesus, by His statements, is encouraging believers to tap into this very kind of wisdom. There’s no need to bite each other to prove who is holier or more righteous. We need to watch the backs of our each other with eyes that are not judgemental and help the Body of Christ grow. This is the shrewdness, Jesus requires you and I to adopt.
Have a blessed day.
