Isaiah 51:1 KJV
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord:..
I have a friend who got a lot of money while he was doing his national service. He surprisingly turned down an offer to continue to work in this place. Obviously, he was even going to make more money if he had taken the offer.
Later when I found out, this is what he had to say: “I can not continue at that level of corruption. My soul won’t be able to take it at point anymore. Righteousness has no place there.”
I found his statements very revealing. His personality had never struck us in that way!
Isaiah in today’s text addressed a people like that. Though the Jews were notoriously rebellious, there was always a crop of them who pursued righteousness. A people who won’t bend, no matter what.
This is extremely difficult in times like these, but thanks be to God for His intervention.
What He does in our time is to replace our efforts with the righteousness of His son. So that you are now acceptable to Him, not because of your own doings, but because of His son, so that none of us can boast, except in His grace. This is one privilege we should never lose sight of. His righteousness is what we are now.
Have a blessed day.
