Psalm 119:55,62-63 KJV
I have remembered thy name, O Lord , in the night, and have kept thy law.
[62] At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.
[63] I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.
My very first sleepless night, growing up, was when I lost my cousin. He was my buddy and we lived together, especially during the holidays. We learnt a lot from each other and had mad fun together.
That night when the call came, just a week after I had left his home, was my longest night as a boy. I just couldn’t sleep and this went on for a while. I didn’t know and couldn’t understand what this had to do with the night.
The night may be characteristic of darkness and gloom, but like the writer of Psalm 119 expresses, it is also a good time to praise His name and give Him thanks and praise. Keeping His precepts means our worship is never time bound.
In your darkest moments find the strength to worship. Easy to say, yes, but once we psych up our minds to remember to do, it becomes a big stepping stone.
Arise in the middle of your night and give Him thanks.
Have a blessed day.
