Psalm 115:1,14 KJV
Not unto us, O Lord , not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.
[14] The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
Throughout my secondary and tertiary education, I met and knew many good students who put some efforts into studying. Everyone knew those students were good because they studied a lot more. Yet there was another group of students who studied even more than the former, yet never seemed to hit the mark.
One such student was my friend. I can say anywhere that that lady studied more than anyone else. She put in so much commitment, yet she got now where near the favourite student in my class.
The first time I became conscious of this scripture, i. e. Psalm 115:1 was at a thanksgiving meeting for some successes we had chalked as a small group in school. “Not unto us O Lord, not unto us…” was how our prayers began. The guy who led the prayers was very deliberate in his approach.
Since then, these words have stayed with me. It is too easy even for believers to be swayed into the thinking that their successes are a result of their hardwork. Yes, your hardwork is too vital to the whole mix, but remember there could be others who even worked much harder than you did. 😊
Have a blessed day.
