Psalm 103:15-16 KJV
As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
[16] For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
A few days ago I paid a visit to a top civil servant in one of the government agencies. I had disappointed her with a few tasks some months ago, and though we were now good, I still thought of paying her visit just to remain in her good books. 😉
In our lengthy conversation, just to while away time we would have spent in traffic, she couldn’t help but lament the levels corruption had attained in the public service. One thing she attributed the reasons why people do what they do to, is this: “they forget life is short… where are we going with all we acquire?”
Of course, I wasn’t hearing this for the first time, yet somehow, it came out differently to me. Here was a woman in a good position to amass as much as she could, yet would think beyond the ‘now.
Great power comes with great responsibility. The higher you go, the more sense scriptures like Psalm 103:15-16 would make to you. Towing a path of ‘grabbing and amassing’ gives you just a transient feeling of self worth… the real feeling will come in the hereafter.
Have a blessed day.
