Psalm 99:8 KJV
Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.
I have a lady friend who struggles to come to terms with the subject of forgiveness and how it is presented or preached to us. She doesn’t get why one must go back to ask for forgiveness over and over again for probably the same sins.
So for her, once you know you can’t stop sinning in a particular way, you have no business asking God to forgive, knowing very well you’ll be returning to the same acts 😊. Interesting as her position is, it behoves on us to know there is a lot of work to be done.
In Psalm 98, the author points out that God is very capable of hearing the us and forgiving, but He is never soft on our sins. God never hid away the consequences of any of His beloved, even though He forgave them.
The examples of David, King Saul, Solomon are but a few. Jesus Himself would suffer the consequences of our sins while on earth by paying an ultimate price. So there we have it, you may not get away with the by-products of your sins, though the end-product may be averted by your desire to receive forgiveness.
Have a blessed day. #TGIF
