Psalm 14:1 KJV
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Whenever I hear or read this very popular verse in scripture, that has also become a cliché, the first thing that comes to mind is Charles Darwin and his Evolution Theory, via a process he called Natural Selection.
Darwin wasn’t in a rush to publish most of his works at the early stages not just because he didn’t have very concrete evidence, but also because he came from a very Christian community, a thing his work would defy extensively. He admitted there were a lot of missing links which time wouldn’t allow us to go into.
Yet in all of his work Darwin never really doubted the existence of God. The fact that we are unable to figure out to the minutest detail of his creation doesn’t whitewash his existence. This is possibly one of the thoughts King David sought to communicate by this verse (Ps 14:1).
Enlightenment should not deny us the privilege of acknowledging God for what He is. On the contrary it should reinforce our faith and help appreciate the depths of His nature and wisdom. God is God, a finite mind cannot fully comprehend an infinite being.
Have a blessed day.
