Job 28:12-14 KJV
But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
When we were kids, my mum used to say “home sense is not the same as school sense.” We never truly understood what she meant but once you are told, you knew you had acted foolishly.
She would continue by saying that “sense is being bought at school to top up your home sense, but still…”
Those were interesting and fun days, when your siblings could tease you till you wept.
Job describes wisdom in a beautiful poem in this chapter like I’ve never read elsewhere. He uses the analogy of the mining of precious minerals to explain that Wisdom is no cheap thing, that can be found by no amount of searching, only found in God, who knows it’s deep recesses.
Where does Wisdom come from? And where is the place of understanding? (v20-21).
God understands its way and knows its place (v23).
True wisdom is in seeking the Lord. Don’t wait till your time here on earth is over to realize this.
Have a blessed day.
