Esther 10:3 KJV
For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the welfare of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
The question of who a great leader is has generated various responses from various schools of thoughts. A million people could be counted, but when names like Mother Theresa, Mahatma Ghandi and Nelson Mandela are mentioned, our list is narrowed down to just a few.
One notable trait of these champions are their care for the welfare of others. Much of their efforts wasn’t necessarily to make them great. Their greatness came through their many acts of humanitarianism. If you’ve ever been in a welfare committee you’d know how personal things may get when you encounter some of the beneficiaries.
Mordecai was one such man, he secured the welfare of a people in a foreign land and was able to reproduce the same traits in his orphaned cousin, Esther.
God’s will is for us to care for needs of others. No welfare champion is bigger than Jesus Himself, who gave His life that OTHERS might be saved.
John spoke on the same subject in 1 Jn 3:17.
Seek the welfare of others, your God sees greatness in that.
Have a blessed day.
