2 Chronicles 33:12-13 KJV
And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
[13] And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord he was God.
It is usually less painful to learn from the bitter experiences of others than to decide to curate your own experiences.
So were the actions of King Manasseh, who had inherited a rich legacy of the knowledge of God from his father, King Hezekiah. Manasseh chose his own path and did loads of evil even though he knew the possible consequences.
You and I usually know the possible outcomes of what we do even before we start them. Too often we throw caution to the wind and engage in what we know will only yield trouble in the long run. The outcome will not change, it will be the same.
Manasseh was carried away in hooks, like a fish, with bronze fetters (v11)… how humiliating!!!
Disgrace only awaits us if we keep doing what we know won’t bring glory. Let’s learn from those who have gone ahead of us.
Have a blessed day.
