And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be mighty upon the earth.

The message bible captures Nimrod as the first great hero on the face of the earth. Out of curiosity I decided to read about him online.

Though most of what is written about him is not certain, such as being king of Babel at the time the tower was being built, we do know that was a great grandson of Noah himself.

In fact, so much information is out there so that, it is very difficult to create a mental picture of his personality, as a good number of these historical records contradict each other.

This is one of the key reasons why believers need to be very careful of what they read. Our curiosity and quest for knowledge may easily open us up or make us vulnerable to the devices of evil, a tactical approach by the devil himself.
Scriptures admonishes us to study to show ourselves approved of God (2 Tim 2:15), but much care must be given to this.
